I've had the chance to sample fresh pralines at several French Quarter praline shops, all of them good. What stands out the most are the pralines I've had at Tee Eva's on Magazine. I normally get the sweet potato pie there, or a snowball during the summer, if it's hot. But every so often I have to get a half dozen pralines to snack on at work, and for the kids. I've never been a big fan of the coconut pralines, but their trademark pralines are just heavenly, I have yet to find a better praline in Louisiana. When Christmas time rolls around, I usually order up a few dozen to send to relatives and friends that have left the state, I'm also guaranteed a thank you card for the treats. I think what I like best of all is that, like Loretta's, this is a shop that was created by a real New Orleans woman, with a business in her name. Aunt Eva retired, I believe, but I still see her around from time to time, and I always get a smile from her. I love the pralines, I love the pies (haven't tried the crawfish one yet), and I like supporting a local business, I would recommend Tee Eva's to anyone.
