WOW!!!!! Many months ago, I needed a new glass top to my dining-room table, and I was in a pinch, so I looked these guys up who were in my area. Well, I described everything to a tee, even being over cautious, explaining how it will be used, etc. So, I get it back, bring it home and feel the corners, and they are as sharp as the point of a knife! I explained MANY times that the glass does not set in a frame, but hangs over the edge of the frame and people's arms rest on the edge of the beveled glass. Well after lots of back and forth and being told that what I wanted done was not possible because the glass was tempered, then I talked with an actual tech there by walking into the shop area of my own accord and he fixed the problem right there on the spot by sanding the corners! I have since loved the table top! So, just yesterday, I was in a pinch for two small cuts of acrylic; so, not wanting to do any research, I just called them up and asked if they could handle the job. They said that they don't normally do plastics, but because my job was simple they'd be delighted to do it and could have it done in a day if they ""expedite"" it. It was also mentioned that they can't do ""etching."" I said that ""etching"" didn't matter, as this was just going to raise the bottom of a drawer, but please round the edges for me. They said that they could ""ease"" the edges, but no more. I asked if the edges would end up sharp. They said no. The job would cost nearly $90! I thought that was a little high, but, again, I didn't have the times to delay, so I went with it. My order: One 8""x18.5""/1/4"" sheet of black acrylic One 14""x16.75""x1/4"" sheet of black acrylic What I received: One 8""x8.5""/1/4"" sheet of clear acrylic One 14""x16.75""x1/4"" sheet of clear acrylic Both with edges so rough that there were minute little cracks and splits in them -- sort of like what you take to a rock-chip repair place for your windshield!!!! I was floored. My office project depended on this being done so that I could move to the next stage! I called back and was told that there is nothing they could do! She said that she ""wrote down the dimensions and repeated them"" to me, and if I want ""different dimensions,"" then I would have to reorder!!!! She also said that they don't carry black acrylic and that she ""told me that we don't do 'edging' (!!!!), and that the edges being rough and cracked like that are ""just the way it naturally is""!!!!!! I asked to talk to the owner and after a LONG hold on the phone I was told that he was unavailable, but I would be welcome to come in during business hours (and then very rudely restated their opening hours to me in a very snide way!). So, I dropped everything and drove back there! I was told that the owner didn't want to talk with me and that they would refund my money, which they did on the spot and then loudly said, ""thank you for your business!"" WOW! I was in a really bad spot now. I needed the sheets like an hour ago!!!! So, like as if the heavens opened, I found Tap Plastics in Lynwood!!!! They did EXACTLY what I wanted, for less than $40 (!!!!!!!!), and had the job done in less than 15 minutes while I waited! WOW!!!!!!!!! These guys should win an award for this or something! Like a Darwin Award for the WORST customer service in the world! And, at best, their work is mediocre, and I only know that because we really like our glass table top. I don't suspect that they will be around for much longer.
