Review content:
I find it incredible that people are rating this restaurant with 4 to 5 stars. It doesn't even rate 1 star. I went today and cringed because I've eaten here before. Had to go because the group wanted it. They start out by giving you chips and salsa - nothing to write home about. Then you're given a taco cup with liquid cheese in it that tastes like Velvetta. Having worked at restaurants before and eaten cheap food as a college student I can tell you La Casona's business model is to sell the cheapest, bland, preprocessed, packaged food it can find and serve it in a Anglo dominated area of town. Look around the place at the customers. No Hispanics except for the staff. Look at the meat - all the cuttings are the same like from a plastic pouch. Ever eaten refried beans from a can? Same taste here. I couldn't finish my enchilada plate. It was that horrible. La Casona wouldn't survive a month in a town with a sizable Hispanic population. If you want good Mexican or Tex-Mex go to the outlier towns of Clute or Freeport to the mom and pop restaurants. Service is fast because they just have to scoop or pour the food from a can and reheat it. Good atmosphere and service but so what if the food is CR@P!
