Review content:
I used to go to Art Avenue to paint my own pottery, but when I saw that it was no longer there, we decided to go to Clay Cafe near by. When we walked in no one was there to greet us or ask us if we needed help. We proceeded to pick out our pottery and waited about 5 minutes for someone to help us get the paints. They reluctantly helped us and went back to chatting with co-workers. After we finished painting we gave our information and left. This place was a little more expensive than Art Avenue, but we paid and left. They said they would call us when it was done. A few days later we got a call to come pick up our pieces. When we arrived and gave our name, they spent 15 minutes searching for our pieces. Finally they gave us one of our pieces and said they had messed up the other and had to re do it in the kiln. They again said they would call us when it was done. We never got a call back. We returned a few weeks later to see what the problem was. They said they had thrown our other piece away because we did not come pick it up in time. I understand they throw the pieces away after a 30 day period or however long to not have everything sitting around, but when YOUR business messes up a piece WE paid for, and does not call like promised it is not ok. They were rude when we explained the problem and did not receive a refund. I will never return here or recommend this place. Terrible service. Go to Mud Room on 82nd if you want a good experience with painting your own pottery!
