Review content:
...there's Mexican food-- usually of the tourist variety. Thus, I was a little hesitant as we neared the restaurant.
To my relief, the familiar conforting smell of masa met my nostrils immediately-- always a good sign.
I must say the prices on the menu were a bit off-putting. Back home in Southern California we're used to paying a lot more for standard combo dishes, which are what we opted to sample that day. But surprise! portions were humongous. Food was tasty, hot and satisfying. Service was fine. Salsas were suitably spicy, not noticeably watered down for gringo tastes, and we were able to easily secure a side order of whole jalapeños. Best of all was the artichoke enchilada-- unheard of in other parts of the state.
All in all, a pleasant surprise. If for nothing else, I'd go back for the artichoke enchiladas.
Pros: Pleasant atmosphere, Huge portions, Artichoke enchiladas
