Unless you have had cancer, you might not be able to relate to what I am about to tell you. A few moonths into my diagnosis, I received a letter from this insurance office, and it said to the effect that I should consider buying disability insurance and how I need to protect my husband from having to support me and the financial devastation of a cancer diagnosis. It had a personal tone to it, and she even spoke about knowing about the financial difficulties of cancer becasue it had happened to a close famiy member. I kept thinking to myself: How does this person know ? I do not know this person, and even if I did, this is a personal and actually protected fact: it's called HIPPA. Mt medical information somehow got into their hands. I cannot tell you how awful I felt., especialy at a time in my life when I needed nothing more than another reminder about how my and my families world had been turned upside-down. So, I just wanted to get this off my chest, so to speak, now that i am on the mend, and have the energy to express my feelings about this business and it's practices. I wish it to NEVER happen to anyone else.
