I don't understand what everyone on here is raving about. I'm amazed that this place has so many great reviews considering. Thinking that hair extensions, which they are famous for, must be stellar. Otherwise, this place looks like everything you would want on the surface but when you scratch a bit deeper you find a lot of hype. I purchased a discout coupon on Living Social for a keratin treatment. Anyone who lives in Florida with frizzy hair and has received a keratin treatment KNOWS that this stuff just works. It's a pain for the first couple days, but you suffer for beauty because its worth it. The procedure is pricey too, ranging from about $150-300 depending on the length of your hair. When I saw this offer, I jumped figuring if there were so many great reviews, I would be ok. I also have a simple hairstyle so wasn't worried. When we arrive, we see that the facility is nicely decorated, which gives the impression that it is a high class establishment. Don't let that fool you. Stylist begins to work on my hair, and I can't really blame her, she gave me what I wanted, no frills, but she didn't completely ruin my hair, which is why I gave one star. However, I was supposed to receive a keratin treatment and instead got something akin to the emperor's new clothes. She went through the motions of applying a ""masque"" on my hair after the wash and putting me under the dryer for 10 min. At the end of this procedure, she washed it out and sprayed my hair with white liquid which she claimed was the product. She then did the ""no clips or headbands, flat iron your hair when you get a crimp and don't wash for 48 hours"" schpiel and I asked where the heavy creamy stuff they usually apply was. She claimed that there are different types and this on was supposed to last 3-6 mos but I wasn't going to see a decrease in body or anything. Stupid me, I believed her. The alarms started going off in my head when my hair curled as soon as I stepped outside, even though she had flat ironed. Again, anyone who has ever received this treatment knows that that's pretty near impossible, even if you have the curliest hair imaginable. It did feel softer, but nothing I couldn't have gotten with a mayonnaise treatment and intense conditioner. I waited the 2 days and washed and blow dryed last night. Didn't use any product to see what I would get. Surprise, frizz city. Actually, not surprised. You get what you pay for. Period. Also, I don't care what the other reviews say, the man who owns this salon is the rudest, nastiest little scrap of a man I've ever met. Evil little laugh, mean smile, ugh. Didn't even greet us, say thank you when we left. At one point I was sitting in a shampoo chair waiting for the other party I went with to be finished, talking to her while her hair was being washed (since there was no real comfortable place to sit, I would have had to perch on a precarious looking bar stool otherwise) and he comes over with a man who had had no hair and just stares me down nastily. I asked if he needed me to move and he just continued to stare me down. No 'Thanks yes, please"" or ""Sorry about that"". I moved, not a word. As for the other stylists, I noticed only one turning out good work. The one working on my friend looked as if she had left hair school last week, very green, and I had to stop her because she kept cutting, cutting, going over the same spot a million times (in back so my poor friend couldn't see). At that point I was glad she was finished because I was about to walk out. The use of Aveda products was the only good experience of the visit. The receptionist had the audacity to ask us to post reviews as we were leaving, wonder how she missed the frowns on our faces. I'm not usually nasty or critical. But I feel I was ripped off and that I should let other people know that this place is not worth the money or gas it takes to get there. Good interior design does not a professional salon make.
