Review content:
I guess when your one of the hottest restaurants right now you might forget to do the simple things correctly. Prime 112 is the talk of the town, but hopefully for not much longer. It?s a place to see or be seen because it definitely isn?t there for the food. I have been to all the good steakhouses Miami has to offer and Prime 112 is at the bottom of that list. When you call yourself a steak house and charge the same prices as the best you should at least try to keep up with the big boys. Prime 112 shows itself to be simply this, a poser. The hostesses are clueless and rude, you?d think they'd be more then dumb bimbos when you pay top dollar (there nice at Capital Grille, pretty and smart, try it Prime 112). The waiters are numerous but they can?t compare to the knowledgeable and professional waiters found at Smith & Wollensky and Capital Grille. The food was mixed, the grouper was odd and covered in cheese sauce, the sirloin was of the same quality as one made in a microwave, the filet mignon was nothing compared to steaks found elsewhere, the only good main course was a porterhouse that was done well (has to be since its the most expensive plate on the menu). This place makes you pay for sauces, that?s right sauces, we ordered some.... steak sauce (A-1 with honey I?ll make my own thank you) and a chimichurri that I could make in five minutes (good going for a steakhouse in Miami). The deserts dear lord what did I do to deserve this ok pudding cake and key lime pie (again we are in Miami it should be easy) which tasted like a cheese cake made with Swiss cheese and not even a hint of key limes. As I walked out of a horrible over priced meal that took us 3 reservations to land, I could only laugh at the idea of people who liked this pseudo-tourist trap because they should be going to Smith & Wollensky right next door for a real meal, good service and a place that will still be here in two years instead of a Flemings wannabe. When you copy others try to improve!
Pros: Location, You ""look"" like your rich when you eat here
Cons: Bad service, horrible hostess, below average food, hard to reserve
