It seems like fancy shmancy burger boutiques are all the rage lately here in Atlanta. And while The Flips and Yeah! Burgers of the world definitely have their place in the Atlanta food scene, more often than not when I'm in the mood for a burger I'm either gonna want to do it myself or go order from a counter. Now everybody swears by Five Guys, but put me in the camp that things those guys are good but overrated.
I visited Canyons' original location in Woodstock some time ago and loved it. The trouble is, as an ITP'er, I live nowhere near Woodstock. The good news is I do live near Brookhaven, where they opened their second location. I've been to it a couple of times and I have officially proclaimed it my new go-to burger joint.
The fresh, never frozen angus burgers are cooked just right. The topping selection is stout, but you're not gonna find anything crazy like a fried egg or cheez whiz. The fries come in 3 flavors - straight cut, crinkle cut, and sweet potato. My wife loves the crinkles, but I'm a sweet potato guy myself. If you like a shake with your burger, they've got you covered there too.
If you're close to Buckhead or Brookhaven, feel like a good burger, and don't feel like slumming it at McDonald's, then check out Canyons for sure.
Pros: juicy burgers, fixins, 3 kinds of fries, the good ice
