If I could give this company a negative 10, I would.... I bought a Sony Vaio laptop there in October 2007, and have had problems since day one. $1200 computer, plus a 5 year warranty. On February 10, 2010, I took the computer in to have a virus removed and as of today, July 9, 2010, I still don't have a computer. After removing the virus, they told my husband that the mouse pad wasn't working, which I knew, but didn't care about because I use a wireless mouse. He told them to go ahead and fix it because it was covered under warranty-- hahaha... While fixing the mousepad (""shouldn't take more than a week""), they broke something on the motherboard. After 6 weeks of trying to fix it and no communication, they sent it off to Sony to be fixed (""you'll have it back in 6-8 weeks""), but when it came back, the problem still hadn't been resolved (come to find out it been sent back to Sony twice). Still no communication; after 14 weeks I had to call to check on the status! Logically, one would assume I would get a new computer, right?!?!?! Well, basically the warranty means NOTHING, except money out of my pocket! When I bought the computer, the sales rep pushed a warranty on me, promising they'd replace the computer if there were any major problems, but what he failed to mention is really they'll only replace it in the first year, and after that they'll spend months upon months trying to fix the problem, rather than replace it. There is zero communication between the service department and the customer-- not one person has called me in the past 5 months. The employees are condescending, impatient, and act as if you are bothering them. I was just told my computer had been sent back to Sony for the THIRD time and would probably be back in 2 weeks... HA!! I'll call there in 8 weeks and nothing will be different. The problem won't be fixed, they still won't care, and I'll still be without a computer. First of all, GO TO BEST BUY! They at least act like they care about their customers. Secondly, if you do buy from Fry's, DON'T waste your money on a warranty--it's just another way for them to make some money, as the warranty really means nothing!!!!
Pros: ha!
Cons: the entire experience
