Review content:
I would enter a negative value if I could. We had taxes prepared at the office and received notice that we owed $12,000. I ended up having to prove to them how my property sale did not generate a tax event. Ooops. The explanation? They ""forgot to check an important box"" . There was no tax bill for the property sale. Now, FIVE YEARS later, I get a collections letter saying I owe for tax preparation from five years ago which was paid? No proof offered. No phone calls have been returned. The only explanation is that they provided was a letter stating that they had to do an extensive audit of the firm. A tax preparer having to do an extensive forensic audit on his own firm? Not a good sign.
