Review content:
Travel is part of my job and so I get to see a lot of record shops as I feed my vintage vinyl addiction. I thought, after reading the reviews about this place, that Hogwild would be much better than it is. Like I said, it all depends on what you're looking for. Vinyl is my passion and this shop has a nice selection, not the largest, but certainly worth a trip to cruise the limited stacks ...especially if you don't have a lot of time but need to get a quick vinyl ""fix"". What I found appealing was the large stock of $1 albums. I walked away with some good stuff and a true Diamond in the Rough; a copy of BS&T's ""Brand New Day"" (vg to ex condition) courtesy of the bargain box. There is a small array of used, collector grade classic vinyl (Beatles, Stones Steppenwolfe, et. al.). A nice feature the shop does when price-labeling the ""good stuff"" is to place the sticker *inside* the album cover so as not to trash the cover with sticky labels (that you have to remove and hoping you don't rip the cover in the process). Another nice feature is a turntable you can use to listen to potential buys ...do it sparingly though because the TT is not anything close to audiophile in nature. Hogwild is worth a visit and you can scan the vinyl dollar boxes in about 45 minutes or so ...and you might just find something great. It just depends on what you're looking for. Pros: Easy to browse; lotsa bargains Cons: Limited vinyl selection.
