BEWARE! Long-time customer! READ: Mahopac Motorcycles has been my shop for the last five years. They?ve serviced two motorcycles of mine, and have always done a good job. It seems, however, that the last few years they have become apathetic and complacent, unprofessional and careless, and their customer service and desire for loyalty has taken a nose dive. Want to get your bike repaired? Want a new bike? Jacket or helmet? Find another shop. Here?s why: I dropped my bike off here and they did not have it ready for over FOUR AND A HALF WEEKS. It needed one part, an oil change and a battery. I left them the motorcycle on April 30th. I called on May: 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 13, 19, 23, 24, 27, 28, 29, 30. During the entire time they had the bike, they contacted me twice? once to tell me they were placing an order for the part on May 19?nearly three weeks after having possession?a spare, non-integral part that is available online anywhere, new and OEM. If it sounds like lopsided communication with the customer doing all the work, I can tell you that each time I called I was rushed off the phone in less than a minute with the promise that they would ?check on my situation and call me right back.? When Mahopac Motorcycles says they will call you right back, or call you in the morning, they will not. Also, a word of caution: when they tell you your bike will be ready to pick up the next day and you travel 45 minutes to the shop, it won?t be ready. When Andy, who is in charge of the bike?s shop quotes you for one hour of labor and your bill shows up with an additional two or more hours of labor mysteriously added in with no written or verbal explanation, don?t be shocked. Mahopac Motorcycles is synonymous with ?no can do?. I gave them a legitimate shot at keeping me as a customer; all I wanted was an apology for the unnecessary delay and for their causing me to forfeit my long-standing Memorial Day ride plans. I spoke with the owner of the store on the phone and with other staff in person. After bringing my situation to the attention of J.R., the owner, he unapologetically attempted to pass the blame to everyone else, everyone that is, except the people who work in the store. Unfriendly staff adds to the burn?don?t expect eye contact or an inkling of empathy, not even an attempt at an apology when you finally DO hand over your credit card after you describe your unreasonably long wait time and ask if there is anything the shop can do?from Matt as he shrugs and walks away while you are speaking to him. Ironically, when I finally did pick up my beloved motorcycle at the shop, a man there who was trying on a jacket he had ordered through the store was asking the staff why it had taken so long for his order to come in. The cherry on top of my Mahopac Motorcycles sundae was when I was putting the cover on the bike after riding it home, I noticed that one of the fairings had been damaged?punctured and cracked?while in the shop?s possession from what I can only assume was careless mishandling of my machine. As I stated above, I have been a customer of Mahopac Motorcycles for five years. I even kept bringing my bikes to their store after moving over an hour away because I am a loyal customer but my last few experiences have proven that they are, indeed, no worthy of my business. From one rider to another, avoid this shop.
