Review content:
I have been going to Origami for over 2 years now, almost weekly. I am always more than satisfied with the service, the food and the atmosphere.
When you eat at a traditional Japanese rest. you need to have patience. This is not fast food- if you want that- there is a McD's in the parking lot. If they are busy- be prepared to wait for your food like an adult- as it is all made fresh, by hand and in the order the tickets are submitted. Only an idiot would run into a real restaurant starving and expect to be served their food in 10 minutes. Some items take longer to prepare, and they bring items as they are ready, as is proper.
The food is always delicious, and very fresh. I have eaten there over 100 times at this point, so obviously I think it is great. The prices are lower than most sushi and Japanese places in the Austin area, and I am so happy to say that when I order a vegetarian roll- it does not taste like fish. (Unfortunately I have been to many other sushi places that do not understand that cross-contamination is a bad thing. ) I have always enjoyed every bite at Origami!
They keep the place very clean, and the staff does their very best to keep up with all of the tables. They are usually pretty busy, and always get everyone what they need as soon as possible.
By far this is one of the top 5 restaurants I have eaten at in my life.
Pros: great food, huge portions, always delicious
