Review content:
The average person doesn't care if the food is authentic, so long as it tastes good. There's nothing wrong with that. Nobody should be criticized or insulted for enjoying themselves. If people have a good time and enjoy the food, more power to them. That being said, once you have become accustomed to really authentic, top quality food Chinese food, you simply don't want to eat at a place like this. (This is true of any cuisine, not just Chinese. If you love great Italian food, you probably won't be found at the Olive Garden, etc.) Some people don't have an interest in exploring that, and that's fine too. For my taste, it's just too American. The portions of some of the dishes are enormous, which is not necessarily a good thing. The atmosphere in general is rather loud and busy. Some won't mind that, but it's not my thing. 3/4 of their dishes use oyster sauce or some other ""special sauce"", which I suppose caters to a certain taste, but is unnecessary. The clientele is a giveaway, by the way. You won't find many Asians eating here. I feel there's just a phoniness about the place that I didn't like, with the white waiters bowing to me constantly, etc. This is the kind of place where it's a novelty to eat with chopsticks. I always look with suspicion upon any chain restaurant, particularly one that attempts to be ""ethnic"". I'm not trying to insult people who enjoy the place. I'm happy for them, and I encourage them to keep going if they like it. You do not have to apologize for what you like. If you understand what I'm getting at, however, you will want to look elsewhere.
