CEO Bruce Royer himself showed up to do measuring for bid. I was going to do a t&g wood ceiling, but he convinced me that they had ""professional"" painters and that I would be extremely happy with their ""professional"" paint job. He was a great salesman, and got the job because of it. I decided to do the ceilings the same color as the walls, and Bruce told me that I needed to go with an ""eggshell"" paint. Trouble right away as screw holes, tape/mud seams, absolutely horrid corners, thin and pitted paint. His man in charge, Joe Maguire, came up with one of their tapers to review. Joe didn't have a clue as to what happened and how to fix. He didn't know if the mud was wet, or if there was a problem with the paint, or whatever. He was relying upon the taper for comment. The taper said that it wasn't his fault and that the job wasn't sanded, primed and painted properly. They sent another taper up to try and repair bad areas. The ""painters"" then returned. When they finished, the painter sat down, pulled the hood down from his head, and confessed to me that he had never ""finish painted"" in his life and that he has never applied a color paint. He said that he was only a sander and primer. He stated how upset he was with Bruce, and that Bruce should have never have put him in that position. This time they had painted half of the living room ceiling the lighter bedroom color, and the other half the darker LR color. I also found that there was no finish paint applied in garage and hall, and that it was only primer. When I complained, instead of coming out to see for himself what had been done, Bruce told me to keep the second half of my payment, $2650, and find someone else to fix it. Bruce then resorted to saying that I was using a 500 watt light to take pictures. The light I was using was an 84 watt light. He then stated that it must be the magnification of my pictures. Again, instead of coming out to see for himself, he told me they obviously couldn't make me happy and to keep my second payment and find someone else to fix it. Painters would not accept the job without the drywall being addressed first. I had drywall guys that wouldn't touch it as they didn't know how they could repair without ripping it all out, or perhaps removing the tape and trying again. A couple companies didn't even choose to bid after seeing the work. I finally got one company to take on the task and they said that they wouldn't leave until I was happy. It was found that Bedford Drywall had not installed screws on one entire side of my ceiling, and this guy walked to spots and pushed up on the drywall to show me how it had not been secured. To repair, the entire addition was sanded, the drywall was repaired to the best of their abilities, trim was added to all the hacked up sections, two skim coats were applied to all ceilings and walls (I got corners back), sanded in between, a coat of primer and two coats of finish paint. It turned out very nice for an additional cost of $3600. As far as I am concerned, I was the victim of fraud, as I was knowingly misled to get my business, and they all upheld this lie of ""professional"" painters and service, until their ?painter?s? confession at the end of the job. One very close acquaintance I'm told of Bruce's, was here to look at doing the repair job. He stated that he was stunned at the work, and that Bruce made a very poor decision by not coming to see the poor quality of work that had been performed. He asked me for the names of his tapers, so that they would not accidently be hired by his company. I had a witness here specifically to listen to his comments and feedback. Their poor quality work and lack of resolve cost me a lot money, months of time, delayed projects and time away from work,. I have hundreds of pictures that document my comments and the work that was performed, both before and after. I am willing to make these available to anyone wishing to have them.
