""Rough Ruffles"" features the 2 and 3-D work of five Colorado artists: Rebecca Cuming, Shelly Hamill, Karen Mandery, Denise Perreault, and Arabella Tattershall. These artists use hard materials such as steel, concrete, mosaic, glass beads, and canvasses encrusted with clothing to create the illusion of suppleness and drape in female fashion. There are surprising emotional connotations, too, in Karen Mandery's gown made entirely from stuffed animals. A show to delight and provoke you with its mastery of materials, whimsy, variety, and wildly distinct references to fashion and its place in the 21st century. Artist Talk June 3, 4-5pm, followed by opening reception June 3, 5-7pm. Show runs June 3 - July 8, 2011.
