I wish I had seen these reviews a month ago. My experience with Austin Thyroid and Endocrinology was similar to many of the negative comments on Citysearch. My insurance doesn't cover Dr. Scumpia's services, so I paid $300 ""out of pocket"" for dismissive, insensitive, and careless treatment. She is now holding my ""abnormal"" lab results hostage, requiring that I pay another $100 for an appointment to get these results, as she does not speak to patients over the phone. It took four phone calls and voice mail messages before I could speak to a nurse, who insisted that an appointment is the only way I can get my lab results, even though I explained my hesitation to work with Dr. Scumpia. I do not recommend this doctor or this practice.
