Review content:
My daughter and her girlfriend recently went to Occasions to look for a prom gown. We live about 35 minutes from there. they went in, found some gowns to try on and were told that they were not allowed to try the gowns on without their mother being there. My daughter is an adult 18 - almost 19, has her own checking and savings accounts and has been shopping on her own ever since she got her driver's license. Her girlfriend is also 18 - and her mother is deceased - not sure what her options were if she found a gown and wanted to try it on. I have never heard of any policy such as this and will not be going there to purchase anything in the future. So my daughter and her friend used their own gas and time to go to this store and were summarily turned away by the rude salesperson. I went by the store myself after this occurred to see if there was a sign on the door saying you must have your mother with you and saw nothing to that effect. I also went on their website to see if there was anything on there about bringing your mother and also saw nothing. It's a very disturbing way to treat a young adult - and I would think in our struggling economy that stores would be more consumer friendly.
