Even though I graduated from Kilgore College in 1975 and have returned for MANY reunions, I had never been to THE BACK PORCH. I always shyed away from it because I thought there was only street parking out front. Wrong -- they have a whole parking lot behind the restaurant. My first visit was on a Saturday after the Rangerette Revels matinee at about 4:00. This is a busy time of year for the campus, so we knew the place would be crowded. It took us a while to get our food; but while we waited, we snacked on bowls of delicious beans from a hugh ""help-yourself"" kettle and corn bread sticks -- even went back for seconds. My friends and I got the original Burgers and shared baskets of french fries and beer batter onion rings. You could really taste the flavor of the beer in the onion rings. The wait was worth it because EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!!! Too much to eat but at a very reasonable price....we couldn't finish all of it. There was no smoking inside -- smokers were dining outside on the patio. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Kilgore for the best burgers in town. Can't wait to visit Kilgore again and try something else on their menu. Great place to dine!!! Pros: Lots of parking behind restaurant
