Same story and 25JULY09 consumer. My Maytag HE washing machine bites the dust after the manufacturers warranty expired (2 years) exactly 2 years and 2 months after purchase. Good thing I bought an extended warranty from the store! Warranty work turned over to La Mesa Appliance. About three days pass before tech can come to house for consultation (my description, not theirs) despite my giving them a FULL description of the problem and what trouble shooting was done; I knew EXACTLY what was broken and what parts needed ordered BY MAYTAG PART NUMBERS! BTW, I have been a ships engineer for 24 years, so I know what I am doing. ""Tech"" arrives, spends five minutes and declares bearing shot, need to order parts. Hmmmm, sounds familiar. Clock still ticking and no washing machine. To the laundromat we go! After a week of waiting for parts, and calling the shop to try to get an update, the tech to returns. Of course, I need to take a day off from work because they do not work on Saturdays. The techs arrive in the later part of the afternoon and spend two hours replacing about 60% worth of the total mechanical parts in the washing machine. Techs declare completed, start the washer on a ""short cycle to check for leaks, then leave. Before short cycle even completed, a fault code comes up and shuts down the machine within 10 minutes of his leaving. I immediately called the shop and request the tech to return, but am told the techs are ""out of the area"" and cannot return until next week or possibly the weekend (four days away). Weekend? I thought they said NO WEEKEND work! I demand to talk to the manager/owner, and Bruce says the same thing and that it was now a ""different"" problem. I tell him it is still broken and he was paid to fix it. He continues to blow me off, so I quite arguing with the idiot and tell him I will deal directly with the warranty shop. The warranty shop explains that they are sorry for my troubles and decided that it had cost so much in ""repairs"" that they would just refund my entire purchase. Meanwhile, I am stuck with a broken washer with LOTS of new parts in it. This company has TERRIBLE customer service, and worse technicians. STAY CLEAR! Especially if YOU are paying for the work vice your warranty service.
