BUYERS BEWARE - I am writing as a very concerned bulldog owner. I recently purchased a 5 month old bulldog from a breeder in Texas, DNA Kennels. I will say that I accept responsilbity for not asking more questions as I was a novice at the process BUT upon receiving the puppy I noticed a few obvious health concerns that had not been disclosed. Upon taking him to the vet I was informed that he has a hernia and an eye condition called Entopian (common with breed). When I received the puppy I immediatley called the breeder (it was very visible on his belly) and he told me it was his umbilical cord and that it would fall off naturally, my vet informed me that this was very much incorrect and that it needed to be operated on as it is a half inch hernia. After further investigation I discovered that Bubba also had ""cherry eye"" that was operated on 20 days before I began speaking with the breeder, another piece of information he neglected to mention. I have since contacted the breeder and asked that he pay for the surgery as they were pre-existing conditions (it had only been 2 days from the time of arrival to the time of diagnosis by my vet). He refused but did offer me a return on the pup. I was appalled, it is NOT a sweater this is a living creature who has already been shiped across teh country once into a new home he has begun to adjust too. Now his previous owner wants me to put him thru the same only to most likely sell him to another buyer without disclosing this info either. I plan to report him to the Better Business Bureau and will be exploring small claims court not only for the cost of the surgery but so that i can subpeona Bubbas health records which hte breeder has yet to provide even after many inquires. On top of all of that Bubba came to us with poor hygiene and terrible habits. It was very clear that no one on one time was spent with this pup. I was told he was learning crate training but when placed in his crate he immediately went to the bathroom and was not object to sleeping or sitting in it...clearly a dirty habit that was allowed at his previous owners. In addition, his nails had not been cut EVER and his ears appeared to have never been cleaned. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS BREEDER....he is dishonest and in my opinion not good with animals.
