What compels me to write to you is the subjective, and what I feel now as discriminatory, treatment that I received at the hands of the Pharmacist Brian Nguyen. The events of the experience are as follows. My daughter fell ill to which she required a prescription. I initially took my prescription to the nearest pharmacy that I could find which was a Walgreens. They told me that it would be about a half hour for my prescription to be ready so I went home and decided to come later to which I did and found that my prescription had not been filled yet. Now my sick 4 month old daughter and my wife were waiting for me and the medicine at home and I could not wait for another promised hour that the Walgreens had told me it would take. I decided to visit the Ralphs in question which happens to be around the corner from my home. I found a coupon for a $25 rewards credit when I transferred a prescription and decided that I would take my business there. When I went to the pharmacy the Pharmacist Brian Nguyen asked me a few questions and refused to take my coupon because he believed it ""wasn't right"" for me to do that to Walgreens. I was somewhat floored that he was questioning my moral judgment and stood there lecturing me as to what was right and wrong for me to do. I asked him if it was his place to do that and asked him if he wanted my business or not. After he couldn't find an answer to that, he claimed that it was against ""policy"" to do that because he said that the medicine did not call for refills. I told him that nowhere on that coupon did it state that the transfer had to have refills. He then did not know what to answer to that so he then proceeded to give me two scenarios under which he would accept the coupon. One was if I had left a Rx at another pharmacy a month ago then transferred it to Ralphs if I had not picked it up. I said that the only difference between that scenario and mine is the length of time. Then he said gave me a scenario about someone filling cough syrup and transferring only the refills. I explained to him again that nowhere on the coupon did it even state ""refills"" or even somehow refer to a refill. At this point I felt like I had to deflect every scenario that he subjectively was thinking in his head at that moment instead of him relying on an actual written policy from Ralphs or even what was written on the coupon. I repeatedly asked him to show me some written policy to which he refused. He then questioned me about the prescription not being at Walgreens because he called twice as he claims and they knew nothing about any prescription of mine. I felt he was accusing me of lying about this whole thing. I told him ""Sure, I go into random pharmacy's and ask to transfer non existent prescriptions"". I called Walgreens and they readily knew who I was and what the prescription was. That was the icing on the cake. I went to find a store director but was informed that he was gone for the day. I was told to see a Ms. Solorzano to which she was polite but told me right off the bat that she was not going to dare override what the pharmacist decides and that he runs what she made me understand was sort of another business inside of Ralphs...(???) I mean I am aware of vendors inside retailers that are somewhat autonomous but this is a Ralphs pharmacy with Ralphs employees inside a Ralphs. I believe that if she wanted to, she could have done something. She instead advised me to speak the next day to a store manager. To me that means wasted time for me when all I wanted to do was fill a prescription and use a widely distributed coupon and not be treated like a beggar or talked down to with a moral lecture by my local neighborhood pharmacist in front my own neighbors. That got me fed up. I went to the Ralphs down the street and had absolutely no problems to exact the same transaction that Brian Nguyen refused to do for me.
