It may not be right on the main street, but this is one of the best quilt shops that I've been to; and I've been to shops all over the country! On the side of a little plaza on Main Street in East Aurora, this little shop was not the easiest to find; I had to call there to get specifics, but WELL worth the effort! It is jam packed with a huge assortment of fabrics for every quilters' taste. There was something different everytime I turned around. It may be small, but the lovely ladies working there have packed it with everything from batiks and orientals, my favorites, to civil war & 30's/40's repros and everything in between! Being a batik fan, I was overjoyed to see an entire wall dedicated to them and some very nice hand sprayed fabrics! Then I saw the beautiful section of orientals, and I knew I was in trouble... There were lots of moda marbles and nice blender fabrics, all of the best quality 100% cotton. I didn't see one cheezy, off-brand bolt in the place. They had entire collections of some fabric lines as well as a good assortment of kid friendly prints/brights as well as some nice flannels. And let's talk about books & patterns! Holy cow, they have a ton! Everything from purses & totes to wall hangings, table runners, and jackets to full size quilt patterns. There were lots of samples to look at, too. The owners, Susie and Linda were fabulous, by the way. They were very friendly, and even offered to special order a gadget that I've been looking for! I really have to thank them for spending so much time with me, as well as the other customers. They let me shop & browse without interruption and then were very helpful when I needed critique deciding on a few color selections and found me some great ""sparks"" that I hadn't noticed. It was truly a pleasure shopping experience. After shopping at the Carriage Quilt Shoppe, I'll be busy sewing for quite a while, but that's okay...I need the time to save some cash for my next trip there! Pros: service, variety, prices, & off-street parking Cons: a little tricky to find - across from Spike gym by the viaduct, where the road turns to brick!
