Review content:
I have to say that I have been a member of the YMCA for the past several years and in the last 2 it has gone down hill severely. The number of times there have been problems with stereo equipment, headsets, and broken exercise equipment (cycle and machines) have increased. I would dare to say well over 50% of the time there is always some problem. That, in addition to the late instructors (several times have not shown up at all) make this a ""thumbs down"" place to go for people who really want to exercise. Another thing, the instructors are not ""in sync"" and apparently do not have the same type of instructional training as they all give different, randoim advice about exercise, warming up/cooling down, etc. One says one thing, and another says the opposite. Believe me, I have mentioned this on several occasions, and it is of no concern. There have even been times where someone obviously has had poor form (cycle bike not set properly, etc) and the instructor did not even help this person out. This has happened on more than one occasion. It is very frustrating, as members are paying for the facility and correct training and assistance when doing exercise classes. For families, the outside pool in the summer is nice, but very very crowded. If you are serious about exercise, be very wary of the YMCA at Wake Forest and espcially the one in Wakefireld.
Pros: pool
Cons: broken equipment, late instructors (if they show up at all)
