Husband and I both bought vehicles here and paid extra for ""Hartford Toyota Advantage"" - basically a complete scam. The ""advantage"" includes ""free tires for life,"" which is why we bought this program. Turns out, despite because called HARTFORD Toyota Advantage, it is a 3rd party tire company that requires oil changes every 3,000 miles to remain eligible for free tires (dealership itself admits oil changes on these vehicles are only necessary every 5,000 miles...so they get you there). Program also requires tire rotations with every oil change (again, dealership admits tire rotations that frequently are unnecessary....so they get more of your $$ there). The real kicker? My husband's car desperately needed new tires, but 3rd party requires them to be at an absurd, dangerously low level. Couldn't risk going through another New England winter on bald tires so forced to shop elsewhere and lose the $$ we poured in to this ""advantage"" program. Brought car to other shop and was told these tires were legally bald and incredibly dangerous and should have been replaced a while ago. Thanks for nothing, Hartford Toyota. I should also mention that after an oil change, I received an email from dealership asking me to complete customer satisfaction survey. I honestly answered the survey, complaining of our dissatisfaction with the dealership. A couple hours later I receive a very angry, unprofessional voicemail from Shannon in the service department literally yelling at me because of my negative survey. Apparently the survey was meant to review the individual person who rang me up at check out at my oil change (although it makes it seem that it is just a general customer satisfaction survey). Yes, Shannon - you're right in that there was nothing wrong with my oil change. However my husband's vehicle was in need of tires - which we basically already paid for with $500 for the ""advantage"" - when Hartford Toyota chose a poor 3rd party that they put their name to and then refused to help us when we needed it, we both left the dealership and now take our vehicles elsewhere to be serviced. There is a reason why Hartford Toyota has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. They lie, they cheat, and they basically steal your money. There are much better places out there who treat their customers right and understand that a small loss will bring greater profits in the long run through happy customers - happy customers are repeat customers and refer new ones. Hartford Toyota only cares about making a quick buck and losing your business. Save yourself the agony and go elsewhere - there are much better places who will treat you right and will work to earn your business.
