Review content:
II just moved here from LA, close to Ventura Blvd with over 200 sushi restaurants. You can all compare restaurants to nobu, Sushi Roku, and katana, but try to understand, you're trying to compare a Mastro's to an outback. Wasa was your typical expensive sushi place with little atmosphere and a crowd that thinks expensive sushi means it's good. First, any sushi place you have to order off a piece of paper is a waste of your time. You should order directly from the chef. Second, there is no ""fresh"" menu available. No live shrimp, no live scallops, just the basic salmon and Toro (like that's so hard to find?) And of course it's over priced. But hey, this is Irvine, and it's expensive, and my neighbors think it's a good place (they eat sushi once a month!), so why not go.
Pros: good atmosphere
Cons: expensive and expected, nothing exciting here.
