Review content:
This is my favorite little pub in the Durham/Chapel Hill/Hillsborough area. I have NEVER seen the staff being unfriendly or rude to anyone! Their weekend waitress is the cutest little thing in the Triangle. They make their own wood-smoked barbecue, Their reuben sandwich is locally famous. My wife loves the hamburgers because they are not so huge they overwhelm her. Anyone who really knows french fries knows that the greasier they are, the better they taste--these are only moderatly so,. by the way; if you want REAL fries, try McMennamin's in Portland, OR. My only knock on the Nickle is that they are so busy, especially on weekend evenings, you can't get in the door. In fact, thinking about it, I wonder if x93ml isn't really a fan who's trying to discourage people from coming because the place is so good she's hoping to reduce the crowd a little bit so she and her husband have a better chance of getting a seat.... Last time we were in we had to take the big table as it was the only one empty. We soon invited another couple to share it with us, and near the end of the meal, the staff delivered a couple of free beers. Nothing was said, but I know it was done in appreciation of our allowing another party to get a seat.
Pros: Tasty food, reasonable portions, cute waitress, good beer
Cons: busy busy busy, especially on weekend evenings
