Review content:
I hired Powell & Sons Construction in Red Boiling Spring Tn., in February of 2005, to put in a storm cellar, a large cement driveway and cement patio. I paid for a 14x14 ft. storm shelter, when the company was finished, I wound up with a 10x10. The cellar was not sealed from the outside. When it rained, we wound up with a flooded cellar. The first week the cellar was completed, the bottom steps crumbled. The door leading into the cellar is no longer attached, 6 months after the cellar was built, the wood frame holding the door rotted. Day's after the cement had been poured, we had large fractures everywhere and the end of the driveway broke right in two. I called Mr. Powell about the large fractures & the broken driveway he told me that it was normal, that all driveways fracture. I told him that the fractures & breakage was not normal and that I wanted it fixed. It took weeks of calls for them to come out, poured a different colored cement over the broken piece & said that would do the trick. (it is still broken today) He said he could do nothing for the rest of the fractures. I have begged & pleaded with this company for three years now, trusting that he would keep to his word and have the problem fixed. He bragged on his work ethic, I believed him. We have not been able to use the cellar since it's construction. I had called Mr. Powell dozens of times regarding the shoddy work on the cellar, the driveway & patio, always being told that he would take care of it. We had a tornado on Feb. 5th 2008. My family was unable to get into the cellar due to about 2 1/2 ft of standing water. I called Mr. Powell 5 days after the tornado and was told he would come out the following week. Mr. Powell did not show up as promised, I called him this morning and he hung up on me.
Pros: close to home
Cons: poor quality, poor workmanship, not true to word
