Review content:
After calling and discussing how to go about getting an appointment for a recall I had received I asked my Dad to bring my bike by since I didn?t know if I could get there in time after work. Later I receive a call from my Dad, he explains to me that the dealership says that they won?t order the parts to perform the recall unless I leave the bike there or pay for the parts out of my own pocket and they would then reimburse me later on after the parts come in and the work is done. If I don?t absolutely have to leave my car/bike somewhere overnight, I don?t. As far as me paying for the parts out of my own pocket for a recall, even if they claim I?ll be reimbursed later on? I think is complete ?hogwash? and it clearly states on the letter that it will be done at no charge. Before my Dad calls me he said he's trying to explain all this to them that it?s a recall and I shouldn?t have to pay for anything. The person he?s talking to says that it?s not their policy and that it?s a corporate policy put in place by Kawasaki, not them and that all the other Kawasaki dealerships are the same way. Once he has me on the phone and tells me what happens I ask my Dad if he wouldn't mind waiting around there while I call the Kawasaki customer services department phone number listed on the recall notice. In no time I?m connected to someone and explain to them whats being told to us by the dealer and mainly just want to confirm this is a corporate policy they?re claiming it is. He goes on to explain that there is no such corporate policy and never will be and that I shouldn?t have to pay for anything since it is a recall, just as I suspected. I tell him that?s what I thought but just wanted to confirm it. From there I call my Dad back. I tell him what Kawasaki told me, that they have no such policy. I hear in the background him telling the employee ?He just called Kawasaki and they?re saying it?s not their policy, so it has to be yours. *silence* Now you?re saying it is yours? you?re story telling me?? and we get disconnected. I get concerned so I call back after a few moments to tell him that even if they did agree to do the recall, I don?t want the work done there just because I don?t trust them. He tells me he?s already left and they still wouldn?t do it without me paying for the parts. Later on after I get off work I?m able to discuss it more and he explains that the employee admitted that he lied after being confronted about this policy. My Dad said he asked to speak with the owner of the dealership and the person said that he is the owner... could be another lie, I don't know. My Dad also said that while waiting around for me to call him back he could hear the employee talking about him and laughing. So overall, EXTREMELY poor customer service. I would never go back to them even if my bike was broken down (I hope not) right next to their front door and all I needed was a new spark plug wire. They will never see any business from me and I will be sure to tell everyone I meet my experience with this dealer in hopes that they don't get their business either. No one should have to pay for the parts to perform a recall, even if they do claim you'll be reimbursed.
Pros: Admits to lying to customers when you catch them on it?
Cons: Lies to customers.
