Episode #4 of the Udon and Roe show....""Ladies Nite."" The first dissapointing stop of our global search for the best sushi in the West. I am always wiling to pay premium yen for premium food and service, and don't usually notice the final tab........unless the bill is double for what I usually pay and the food is 1/2 as good. Unfortunately, that was the case. The nigiri at Fuji is just average. Everything was fresh enough, but bland and lacking flavor. The maki was a joke (not a funny one). For a $12.95 roll, it came in FOUR average-sized pieces. Yeah, four. I told you it wasn't funny. For this price the roll should be an eight-piece mouthful of taste and art. Highlights...the seaweed and cucumber salad was decent and the edemame was just the right temp...but please, do you really go out for the beans? THE LADIES....not being fans of the raw, each had the teppanyaki grilled steak dinner. I sampled some of this dish and found it to rank 3rd out of the 3 teppanyaki restaurants that Vancouver has to offer. I'm already bored of talking about this place so I'll put it to you like this......if you live nearby and would like to entertain the kiddies with flying knives and an onion spewing ignited cooking oil.....stop on in. The service is good and the staff is very very friendly. If you'd like to explore many sushi dishes...grab a ""will work for sushi"" cardboard sign and plant yourself at the Mill Plain exit... youre gonna need it! Pros: staff and atmosphere Cons: price vs. quality
