I have two important reasons for wanting to do everything myself, 1) I'm low on funds and 2) I like being capable.
Some jobs, however, require the support of a pro. Jeromie is great! I am usually VERY reluctant to hire repair professionals because so many of them overcharge, want you out of the way, or mess with things that aren't broken. Jeromie was willing first to help talk me through the problem on the phone, accepting that I had a little plumbing knowledge and a lot of knowledge about my own house. Then he filled in my information gaps for me, because I knew that in order to afford the help I had to do all the prep work and clean-up myself (and save my funds for the specialist-required item only). Also, Jeromie's willing to work alongside (if you wish). I love being able to make my frustrating problem a learning experience so that I feel my money is well spent. Now, when I can fix it myself I'll still give it a shot, but when it becomes necessary to call in the cavalry...Jeromie is on my speed-dail. :D
