Now that I've moved away, I usually stay at this Crowne Plaze when we're visiting family that still live in the area. The location is great, close to freeways and quaint downtown Ventura. Plus we love that it's right on the water - ask for an ocean view room. We've had a room on the other side a few times and there's still a nice view. The only thing we hate is the $10 per day parking fee. For real? We're already plunking a few Benjis for a three day weekend so I'd rather they win me over with perceived value and just hide it in their room rates. Other than that, it's pretty clean but the rooms are showing some wear and the freeway is pretty loud with the balcony door cracked even just a little bit. But the friendly service and the bartender Aaron make up for all that and the parking fee. However, do know I travel frequently for work both domestically and internationally - I've stayed at far worse for much more and Crowne is a decent place to stay that won't really break the bank. Pros: Location to downtown and free ways, mostly clean Cons: Parking fee, Freeway noise
