I live in the Midwest and refuse to go to any clinics where I could be harassed by protestors and have a photograph taken of myself or license plate only to show up on anti-abortion web sites. If you are not privileged enough (or insured) then you will have a difficult time finding a family medicine doc to perform this type of service for you. Those docs do not like to think of themselves as offering abortion services, so they are only offered to patients that they can trust to keep the procedure confidential so as not to taint the reputation of the medical facility or physician. I no longer have insurance since I lost my finance position a little over a year ago, but I refuse to go to a clinic and be treated like livestock. You can tell by the photos of the facilities and by the telephone etiquette the type of service you likely will receive at a clinic. I called First Options three times in two days and each person I spoke with treated me with respect and was patient answering all of my questions. I can have this procedure done in my city for $350 to $500 but I am going to spend $230 on a plane ticket, $100 on cab fares, and $600 for the procedure because my instincts tell me that I will be treated with respect and will have the ultimate privacy since I will not be going to a known clinic. I really don't have the ""extra"" money, but I am finding it so that I can have the safest experience possible. Also, most clinics offer vacuum aspiration, not manual aspiration which is apparently much safer. To the skeptics - the reason why a lot of us with positive comments know about the detailed procedures is because we have thoroughly researched something as important and delicate as this. I will again comment after my procedure which should take place is the next couple weeks as I am too early at the moment to make the appointment. Pros: Great Service Over the Phone Cons: None Yet
