Review content:
I was referred to Early Options by my midwife after it became clear that I had a missed miscarriage. I had thought I was 11 weeks pregnant, but the baby had died around week 6. Devastated, I had a tough time even making it to the clinic, and going through with what had to be done.
I'm sure the procedure is emotionally draining no matter what the situation, and my partner and I were no exception. We were given the time and space to cry, rest, talk and ask questions as we needed. The staff was excellent - the nurse in particular had a lot of empathy and coached me through the procedure beautifully. It was actually more painful than I expected (so much of what you read about it is just you're in and out, it's painless, etc.) This is probably much to do with my emotional state - I couldn't sleep at all the night before, was an emotional wreck and was still in shock about the whole thing. They also mentioned I had a healthy/strong uterus - making the contractions/cramping stronger - so the pain may have been worse. The initial pain was the worst - then once I was used to it I was able to breathe through and anticipate what was going on. The nurse was really helpful and caring throughout this.
After the procedure I felt a bit crampy, but was able to rest up - drink some tea and relax before heading home.
They treat you with so much respect and care - the heat pack can come home with you, as well as a host of directions about what to expect when you get home (given both verbally and in a handout).
I felt safe and cared for here.
Although I hope I never need to go back, I am grateful for the service they provided and would recommend them to anyone who has had an incomplete or missed miscarriage or who is looking for a discrete and caring environment for a pregnancy termination.
Pros: staff, office, attitude
Cons: a tough thing to have to go through anywhere...
