Review content:
i scheduled an appt as a result of a recommendation after my current hairdresser went out on maternity leave. they employ stylists on a step or understudy program wherin they are supposed to master skillsets before moving up to the next pay and price level. this is fine but i was never told after seeing a hairdresser for several months that her new rate was $10 higher when i scheduled my next appt and then , two months later, and additional $15 higher. i have always paid for a good stylist but i feel that it is unprofessional not to let a customer know something like this. there is an air of discontent in the salon itself. several of the stylists seem unhappy, with their payrate (they are paid hourly and pay depends on whether they are an understudy, at the intermediate level or at the top level) , with management and with the long hours and number of days that they work. the last time i visited, my stylist had a fit in front of me, another stylist and customer because i was scheduled for a block of time that wass too large, even though, unbeknownst to me until i went to pay, my cut had just jumped in price by $15 dollars. i was uncomfortable and so was everyone else. when she took me up to check out, she berated the woman at the front desk. the whole experience was negative and unprofessional. i felt bad about being angry for having to pay $15 more and felt that the receptionist treated me in a very cavalier and unfriendly fashion after my stylist berated her. i had always felt very negative vibes in this salon and now i will not return. i have had my hair cut in other more high profile salons that charged more but i was treated as a valued customer. i will not return. Pros: very easy to schedule an appt, friendly staff at the reception desk on most days Cons: unprofessional attitude of stylists and other staff, negative vibe
