When we arrived at the hotel after a long drive, the friendly night clerk got us checked in quickly, even offering to demonstrate how to open the window when she showed us to our room, which, along with the hall, was heavily permeated with the smell of stale smoke. The room was good-looking, in good repair, tidy & free from debris. I went to put my beverages away, & found a partially consumed Brisk Tea in the micro-fridge. While we're only talking about a bottle, it could as easily have been chicken blood or moldy cheese, for all the care Housekeeping had taken. I noticed that, in a 2-person room, there was only 1 cup of reg coffee & 1 of decaf , & 1 shampoo, but plenty of soap, towels, & hot & cold cups. As the open window, great H/V/AC, & heavy dose of Febreeze were making all things well, I read the sign on the desk; ""A Promise As Sure As the Sun"" As our guest, you can expect warm hospitality & clean, comfortable rooms where everything works, to make your stay trouble-free & enjoyable. We work hard to earn our reputation as ""The Best Value Under the Sun "" We are personally responsible & strive to ensure you have an exceptional stay with us. We are prepared to resolve any situation that does not meet our high standards. As your Hosts, we are empowered to address your needs in a timely manner. We are pleased to provide useful local recommendations & information. We are proud to be your friendly, attentive, & professional Hosts. Our greatest compliment is for you to return to us or to any other Days Inn location worldwide for ""The Best Value Under the Sun"" I considered the words vs. the reality, & thought that 1 or the other could use a bit of adapting. During our 3D/2N experience, this is what I observed: I LIKED - The large window opened for fresh air. Awesome H/V/AC system. 6 individually controlled lights. Very friendly Hospitality staff. Pricing, w/ discounts besides already having been the lowest priced hotel in a 15 mi radius that had breakfast, pool & wifi. Electrical pencil sharpener at the front desk when my companion broke his. 2 chairs + a recliner in our room. Pool area stayed open until 1am. On the 2nd day, Hskpng DID restock our towels, soap, TP, &, seeing the reg coffee gone, brought 2 more. Seeing shampoo gone, brought 2 more, & wiped sink, bathroom counter, & ledge of bath. I left 42? on the desk before I left, & it remained when I returned. I NOTICED - The view out our window was a wall 6' away. Pool & spa temps were comfortable. Bed was firm. There was no fitted sheet, just 2 flat sheets. Everything worked fine, was in good repair, had a pleasant color scheme, & was comfortable. I DISLIKED - The fridge not being cleaned/checked prior to our stay. The original smell of the hall & our room. Breakfast bar was skimpy, even for a continental. No bagels, rock hard doughnuts, etc. The Guest Directory booklet in the room was filthy, & had obviously been used as both coaster & ashtray some time past, & was not so much as wiped off. Breakfast closes at 9am, instead of the usual 10am. On the 2nd day, Hskpng DID NOT change any bedding, not even the linen (I marked everything before I left). The bed was hastily made. Didn't clean the dirty ashtray, the filthy Guest Directory, or any surfaces in the room (desk, table, nightstands, window sill, TV, lamps). Also left a wet, dirty rag in the recliner. To be fair, they did have 1 staff member from Hskpng call in that day, & the poor girl who attended our room must have been exhausted. That might have been some consolation had the room been clean when we arrived the day before... I note everything & it sounds like I'm putting them down, but, overall, I would say that it's nothing bottles of Lysol & Febreeze won't fix. I am SO SO picky about staff attitude. These guys were great, & the little stuff really was little stuff. For the price & all that was enjoyable about it, even though its only a ""2-Star Hotel"", I still give it 4 stars.
