Review content:
I understand pawn shops assume all risks for everything they buy from everyone and they are in business to make a profit, but taking advantage and manipulating a customer is NOT the right way to go about doing that. My husband and I went into Wimpys to sell Krugerrand coins (10 oz of pure gold) that we acquired from a recent IRS auction. We don't normally deal in gold and had won them when purchasing a LOT of coins. We went to Wimpys knowing the spot (retail) value of what we had $15,860.00. We thought we could get at least $13,000.00 for them from a pawn shop. The guy that helped us went out of his way to give us the speech about how they probably wont make a profit off our gold and said he'd take all 10 oz for $7,700.00 That's $770/oz when gold was currently $1563.00/oz.. Now its not their fault I was so naive but I actually walked out of there with $10,000.00, and just about gave my gold away for $1,000/oz. I should have done more research because I ended up selling the remaining 3 oz I kept somewhere else for $1500.00/oz and this other company was grateful for me letting it go at that price. Like i said, I know businesses are in it for a profit, otherwise they wouldn't be in business, but to blatantly rip of a customer by feeding them lies and BS is not the way to go. I will never go back there and weill make sure everyone I know never does either .
