Review content:
After deciding to ask my girl to marry me last summer, I needed to pick up an engagement ring. Since I actually wanted to pay for a wedding I was hoping I could get a really nice ring & a good price.
I started out with the suburban mall type chain jewelers, where I felt that I was resigned to be charged an arm & a keg for a pebble of a diamond. I then decided to take a day off & head down to jewelers row.
After spending some time in a few of the stores I was feeling much better, but just as confused as to what to buy as ever. I just decided to head out, grab some lunch, & debate whether to head home or keep going. On my way down the elevator, it stopped at 2 & I saw ""Diamonds Chicago"". I decided to give it one last shot. I was introduced to Ashley & she educated me, not only on the 4 C's but more factors I should look at & tips of what I could look for to find a the perfect diamond at a great value. She truly was more concerned with me knowing what to look for than to sell me a ring.
We decided to look at a number of diamonds on stock. As we went through them, she put 2 diamonds side by side & asked me which one I liked the best. She even gave me one of the little eye pieces & she pointed out the symmetries & the flaws. As I picked the one I liked, she would have me compare it to others until I found the best diamond in the stock we chose from.
I came back to visit twice more & she patiently went through the same process with me & on the 3rd try, I found a 1-plus carat diamond that completely sparkled at an unbelievable price. The ring I wound up with probably would have cost at least a thousand more at one of the ""chain"" jewelers.
Also, since I didn't know what ring to buy for her, they set it on a plain white gold ring & after I proposed, I came back with my new fianc
