Review content:
I've never had to find a mechanic in Ames before, but I've had to have my car fixed elsewhere, and I am an expert on customer service. This being said, when you know exactly what is wrong with your car but don't have the proper tool to fix it and you tell exactly this to a mechanic, one would expect him to bring said tool to the site to minimize the effort and charge to all parties involved. Not Habhab's Towing and Repair. He insisted on towing to his shop and then charging labor on top of a service charge and cost of towing, leaving what was 10 minutes of actual work with the proper, hand-sized tool (I watched the entire process) costing just shy of $200. The quality of work seems acceptable, but zero customer service skills. When asked why he did not bring the proper tool with him, he only said that too often he ends up needing extra tools at the shop, which is reasonable. But the sheer refusal to even try to save both time and money, especially when he arrived knowing exactly what needed to be done earns Habhab's just one star. Try anywhere else first.
Pros: He fixed the issue.
Cons: No effort to fix the problem quickly and easily by bringing the correct tool to the site, too costly, and difficult to back out of the parking lot.
