Review content:
I recently renovated my kitchen and added a large bar which required 62 sq feet of countertop. I went to Colonial because two of my very close friends recommended I go there based on their previous experience. One of those friends flips houses for a living and is fully dedicated to getting his countertops from Colonial. Colonial is the only company that he is dedicated to using repeatedly. I see some negative reviews on here and I'm baffled by them. Why would my friend repeatedly use them if it was a bad experience? Why would he and another friend tell me I should go there if they were anything but satisfied? I have only good things to say about Colonial. On the surface, the obvious benefit to using Colonial was the extensive selection of slabs. The inventory area of the warehouse is something like 50,000 sq ft, which is larger than a football field. It is absolutely insane how many stones they have there. Even if you aren't looking to install granite, it would be fun to go and browse through there just to see the huge selection and exotic stones. Below the surface, the customer service and sales help is phenomenal. I made two trips to the showroom before I even decided what stone I was going to use (I'm terrible at making decisions in a timely manner). Before I even entered the warehouse, the sales rep gave me a spreadsheet that told me the final price of each level of stone all based on my calculated surface area. So as I walked through the showroom I knew the final price of each stone if I were to have it installed in my kitchen. The rep walked me through and gave me some background info on the stones and then gave me as much time as I needed to browse. After I narrowed my selection list down to 5, I brought the face of my cabinets in. The rep gave me an honest opinion of each stone with my cabinets and pointed out things that only an experienced person would note. He even told me why my favorite stone wouldn't look good with my cabinets, and I totally agreed with him... I just needed someone to point out the reason. The installation went well and now I adore my kitchen. My bar is 13 feet long, which is longer than the largest stone they have, but the fabrication guys took the time to match the pattern closely. My stone is very veiny and colorful, so it is tough to match the pattern and the color, but they did an exceptional job. I don't know why some people have left negative reviews, but all I can speak for is my experience and I can honestly say I can't imagine the guys at Colonial treated those few people the way the review claims. Something isn't genuine with those reviews. Colonial has tons of customers that have all been referred or heard by word-of-mouth as well as repeat buyers... you do the math. Pros: Competitive prices, insane amount of choices, friendly srvc Cons: You'll be fatigued after browsing the GIANT warehouse
