HERITAGE ENERGY DISCRIMINATES. First let me say I am a professional working a professional position. I am college-educated but as a mom in her twenties and with the weak economy, I qualified for a HEAP benefit through NYS and I had it sent to Heritage Energy, Inc. in Kingston. I chose Heritage because I knew they were a local company and I have been supporting the Davenport family all my life as a life-time resident of Ulster County. However, when I called on Monday I was told that it wouldn't be until the coming Friday that I'd get a delivery and I was already out of oil. I asked if there was any way they could do it sooner and they were really nasty to me and said no and if I wanted it sooner it would be $150.00. I felt that Donna, the route manager, was acting in a discriminatory manner against me for being a HEAP recipient. She used words like ""We're giving you the oil"" and was extremely unprofessional and very off-putting. She told me to go get Kerosene for my tank and wait. Since I couldn't wait a whole week I inquired about the possibility of them being able to refund the money and she said we can refuse the benefit. I said okay let me check with HEAP first but I want to keep my delivery date for Friday just in case it's not feasible to alter the process. I called HEAP and was told they already sent the money to Heritage and that if I wanted to change Vendors it could take up to 3 weeks to get a delivery from someone else to just try and wait until Friday. I agreed. On Wednesday, I get a call from HEAP saying Heritage refused the benefit and weren't going to make a delivery. I called up Heritage and they were closed they left early at the END OF NOVEMBER AS A OIL DELIVERY COMPANY for the holiday (this was Wednesday the day before thanksgiving...""yeah so neighborly and with the season"") but after getting disconnected 20 times I got in touch with the answering service and was told I was put back on the list for Friday and I was good. I had HEAP fax another proof of benefit just to avoid any kind of miscommunication. Well, this morning, the Friday of my delivery, I get a message from Donna who says in shortened words, I received another fax from HEAP and I refused it, terminated your account and we are not going to deliver to you. Go find another vendor."" I called her up tried to explain the situation and she told me I was a liar and got into a fight with me on the phone. So now HEAP is closed, I have no oil, and they refuse me as a customer. It's the end of November, my career position pays monthly, and I now have to struggle for no reason to keep my home heated in November when they are holding my money hostage. I think Donna is discriminating against those that receive any kind of governmental assistance regardless of the circumstances. As a SR graphic designer and online marketing coordinator I probably make more than she does. But those circumstances don't matter. Whether I work at the store down the street or CEO for a company we should all be treated the same. They bully those that need the help the most. I will not support Heritage Energy or Davenport farms and I am making bidding for all my fellow neighbors to do the same. I am planning on contacting the company back to talk with one of the Head managers who actually want to sell their product to see if this is the values that their company stands behind or if Donna is just a disgruntled employee that needs to be reprimanded for her detrimental actions as the face of the company. I will follow up with this review to let you know where it lies.
