After recently breaking her hip, my mother-in-law moved to a senior living center and put her 3 bedroom town home up for sale. Her townhome was under contract very quickly and an inspection was scheduled. The inspector looked at her 35 year old boiler system and said that it needed cleaning and adjusting. My mother-in-law had always used a nationally affiliated company to service her furnace and we called them and set up an appointment. My wife met the ?tech? that came out at the town home. After a couple of minutes in the furnace closet, he told my wife he needed to show her something. Flames were rolling out of the boiler unit and the pressure on the expansion chamber was too high. He told her the entire unit needed to be replaced, that the furnace was unsafe to leave on and he shut it off. Cost of replacement after negotiation, $ 7500. Pros: Honest, knowldegeable, reliable
