Review content:
I visited Balcones Animal Hospital with one of my pets, as I am in the market for a new vet. After reading the great reviews here, I decided to give it a try. I made the appointment easily, but wondered why I was not asked for my phone number (what if the appt needed to be cancelled by the office for some reason?). The hospital itself is a bit worn indeed. But, that did not deter me, as I'd rather have a great vet with a heavily used office than a so-so vet in a state of the art office. The front desk lady was very friendly. I felt a bit uneasy to have to take my cat out of his kennel in the front lobby to be weighed (what if he had bolted and had to be chased frantically around the office? Just a thought). The wait time was average. The first person who arrived in the room I assumed was the vet assistant (he didn't introduce himself). He quickly began to give 3 shots and a nasal medication, without nary a word as to what he was doing. I did end up asking about the nasal med as this cat had never received it before, and he did end up explaining to me sufficiently what it was for. I assume the next person to come in was the vet, as he did not introduce himself either. He was quite friendly though with an appealing sense of humor. We needed to schedule an office procedure. My husband dropped off said cat in the am. He said it was very busy and he had a 10minute wait in line. He also had to take the cat out of the kennel for a weight (see above comment regarding this procedure). There wasn't any feedback as to how the procedure went, or what all was done. The bill he was given was hand written, and a couple of the charges were illegible . All in all, nothing really bad about this office, but there are enough odd things that occurred that will keep me looking for a new Veterinarian
