Excellent service, but badly over-priced!
I called Roto-rooter to clear a shower drain. Prompt, capable service, finished in well under an hour. However I was told the flat fee for a single drain was $345. With an online coupon and discount, that came down to $270. Better but still very high - no parts, just labor and outrageous.
I have owned six houses over the years and used to call Roto-Rooter for drain service because they were good, and a bit less on drain tasks than a local plumber. Not true this time...my plumber charges $95/hour with various minimums, and I am sure he would have been less than this. I could understand the high charge if my problem had been complex and time-consuming, but it was not.
I made the appointment over the phone and did not ask the charge. When the service guy arrived he told me, and I decided to just go ahead this time, rather than send him off. But I will not be calling Roto Rooter again.
