I was referred to Dr. Pilny for my pet rats. I've been a rat owner for 15 years and have experienced some nightmares when it came to finding a caring, knowledgeable veterinarian. Dr. Pilny and the staff at the Animal Specialty Center are truly excellent. I feel comfortable leaving my babies in their care, and it's wonderful to know that if I have a problem at 3am I can call or come by and a doctor will always be there to help.
Some of the other reviews have suggested that ASC has been less than straightforward with their billing policies. While I can only speak to my own experiences there, I've never gotten the impression that they were being less than honest with their billing and I've never felt as if I'd overpaid for a service. Yes, quality pet care comes with a high price tag. But it's important to keep in mind that you really do get what you pay for, and ASC is a state of the art facility with the best doctors I've ever dealt with.
Bottom line, I feel comfortable recommending ASC to all pet owners, especially those with exotic pets who aren't totally satisfied with the care they're receiving now.
Pros: Open 24/7, friendly staff, straightforward care.
Cons: Long drive from my NJ home!
