Review content:
We called the firm and made an appt with a specific attorney that specialized in the reason we were seeking help. On arrival, we checked in and was given a weird look from the receptionist when I said we were there to see Nicholas Merrill. She asked for my name and was able to locate my file. While filling out the paper work, I saw that Nicholas Merrill's initials had been crossed out and another attorney's name was filled in. I thought it was a little odd so inquired as to who exactly we were seeing. Only then were we informed that Mr. Merrill was no longer there and we had been placed with another attorney. I asked why we weren't notified and got nothing but a deer in the head lights look. I asked if the attorney we'd been placed with specialized in real estate and she assured us he was. Okay, so we paid the consultation fee and took a seat. The fill-in attorney came and got us and took us into a small conference room. Once sitting he asked what he can do for us, even though it is clearly written out on our paper work. I briefly explained our situation and to that he said ""oh, okay let me go print out some information"". okay. 10-15 minutes later he enters and says they are going to refund our fee as he doesn't know enough about that particular area of law. Perfect. So we took off work for nothing. Once again I ask why we weren't notified that the attorney we were scheduled with had left. His excuse was that the attorney had just left the week before. Our appt was Wednesday, they had plenty of time to contact us. And more so, I had specifically asked the receptionist if the new attorney we had been placed with specialized in that specific area and were assured yes. Totally unprofessional and unapologetic.
