My mind is still reeling from the horrible experience I had tonight at Ontario Honda. I can honestly say I've never encountered such bad customer service in all my life. For those of you who live in the area--trust me when I say, you will never want to buy a car from them after reading this. If you don't live nearby, you'll want to keep reading just for the sake of entertainment. Picture this: the wife and I have been talking about getting a Honda Odyssey and I call this dealership about one that has everything I want. I make a point to ask a lot of questions about the car, letting the sales rep, Ken Marshall, know that I'm 40 minutes away and want to make sure it's worth my drive down there to see it. You know, so I don't waste my time or anything. Thinking it's worthwhile, I make an appointment with the guy and head down there. As I'm checking out the Odyssey my sales rep Ken Marshall, he steps away to talk to some folks who just dropped their car off for service. Turns out they have their eye on my Odyssey. Want to take it for a spin. Ken says, ""sorry, I'm in the middle of a deal here. I'll call you if it's still available tomorrow."" NOPE. Not what Ken says. Ken says, ""sure guys. Take it for a ride while I go sit down and negotiate this very car with Aaron over there."" Meanwhile, Ken sits me down and we start talking numbers. The people come back from their drive and want to talk numbers too. So Ken, who's now bouncing back and forth between two customers who want the same car, decides to sit them six feet away from me so they can hear me negotiating and vice versa. After I give Ken a number to take to his manager, Sean, I watch him walk over to the other couple with a piece of paper and I hear them say, ""yep, we'll take it."" SERIOUSLY, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!! I just had my Odyssey sold out from underneath me by my own sales rep? Feeling outraged and completely dumbstruck by what just happened, I left the dealership and drove the 40 minutes home, trying to figure out what just happened. After cooling off, I gave them a call and asked to speak to Mng Sean. Not sure what I hoped to accomplish here--let's be honest, there isn't a thing they could've said to me to ""make it right."" But I found myself even more mad when Ken joined us on the call and said, ""I really was conflicted about the whole thing Aaron because I would've made more money on your deal."" because the people that bought it have bought several carscthere and use a different rep who wasnt there. So Ken decided to play both of us. Then they say to me, ""we've both been in the business for over 18 years and we've never seen this happen before."" There's a reason for that guys--THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S WRONG! ITS A CONFLICT OF INTEREST. Reputable car dealerships dont act this way. After the fact they just kept saying what can i do to make this right? Actions speak louder than words Ontario Honda-- Unbelievable. Still shaking my head...
