Review content:
I first met Dr. Kristi Funk for a biopsy on a lump in my breast in 2007. I was 41 years old at the time, a little young for breast cancer, so I expected it to be nothing at all. But unfortunately, it was cancer. I'll never forget the moment Dr. Funk gave me the diagnosis. She hugged me as I cried trying to process what was happening. She reassured me that we would get the lump out of there right away. Dr. Funk takes pride in her surgical skills, and rightfully so. She moved tissue around in the breast after removing the tumor to make my breast look as good as it possibly could. There is no deformity whatsoever, just a slightly smaller breast than I had before, due to the tumor and surrounding tissue being removed. I think that's a reasonable trade-off for becoming cancer free! Dr. Funk treats me like a friend, not just a patient. She somehow puts me at ease about any fears or concerns I have about anything. She even reworked one of my cancer scars that had healed sort of strangely and made it look better. That's above and beyond what I would ever expect from a doctor!
