Review content:
I was here on a night where they had a DJ taking requests so no game, well I think there was snowboarding on the side. The big screens were nice and the staff is quick and the drinks were good and standard Santa Monica price. They also had a promo for 2 dollar root beer flavored liquor shots that you took out of a beaker. Like in chemistry class except not caustic chemicals. So my date and I enjoyed that, the pool was good, lots of table and no one seems to mind that I overshot one. The dedication thing was cool because the music was really varied from My chem to some random euro techno. I saw these russian muscle dudes do some techno moves, so that was interesting. The DJ did have some technical difficulties like on my song but he replayed it over for me which was nice cuz if I dedicated a song and then my date didn't get to hear it....well that would suck. Oh yeah and the music video for the song played on the big screen.... some music videos btw... WTF?!?! Artistic expression has it's limits but when you're a rockstar or big time rapper or just generally in the 80s you can afford absurdity. The crowd is varied and for Santa Monica it's pretty no frills. The pool was a bit pricey, 12 dollars and hour? Some places it's quarters baby but then you also have to deal with the old captain in the corner and some bikers. So we hedge our bets! I didn't get to go to the downstairs and play games, which to a big kid like me would be fun. It wasn't a very crowded night but I'm sure on some nights it can get pretty wild. I'd definitely try it again and even though I didn't yelp it before going (my date and I kinda just winged it) I was glad I'm on this "no greasy/fried" food kick because I probably would have been sick if you guys are right about the food....So yeah dedication of a my chemical romance song... showing my former emo sensibilities, beating my date at pool and cheap drinks...Good night people and so long!
